The main goal of Education-1st is to assist 6th to 12th grade students who are in the"Academic Middle". The academic middle is defined as students who possess a 2.0 to 3.0 grade point average. Enrollment priority is give to qualified native or part Hawaiian applicants due to grant requirements. All other applicants, especially Pacific Islanders are encouraged to apply if space permits.

Education-1st goals are to:

   1. Increase student academic grade point average.
   2. Increase the rate of post-secondary enrollment and career choices.
   3. Increase student confidence through cultural identify and values.
   4. Increase the physical fitness levels to encourage academic and physical balance.
